This is my first home purchase in India and I bought it for my mom and in the future for ourselves. We were little nervous because my mom lived all her life in Chennai and not sure if she would like Coimbatore. Last July, we stayed in Coimbatore for 3 days mainly to check if my my mom is comfortable with the city and also to check on senior living homes.
Being an avid horticulturist for the last three decades, I have my own garden nursery where I grow anthuriums, orchids, begonias, and various other varieties of plants and flowers. However, since both my son and daughter are quite far away from Kerala, I wanted to buy myself a space in a retirement community in Coimbatore, since then I would be able to devote my time between Coimbatore and Palakkad as needed. My brother who is ex General Manager at BHEL Tiruchirapally suggested us Pavithram senior living project at Coimbatore . There is a time in Life when you start looking for something more than a roof to live under.

Construction of the project is progressing as promised and when completed, hope fully it will be very nice place to spend old age happily.
We visited few places on the first day and when I was reading news on thehindu.com I saw an NNRC ad. I called them and their Sales person was very polite and courteous. We had a packed schedule the next day and so we told the sales person that we could only come early in the morning.

NANDANAM, unlike many retirement homes enjoys the advantage of being close to major conveniences such as Premier hospitals, Airport, Railway station, Shopping, Golf Club and the upcoming Mega bus terminal in Vellalur. The senior citizen homes or more crudely called Old Age homes in Coimbatore – I would have seen a dozen of them – were all very mediocre and lusterless. The same old buildings with three or four flats in each floor, with a common dining area and doctor facilities did not attract me. The project is coming up in a calm and serene Kinathukadavu area, unlike in the dusty locality of one of the areas of Coimbatore.

The next day early in the morning we went to NNRC, we loved the location alot, and ended up spending lot of time there, which delayed our schedule. We proceeded as per the plan and visited other places. We narrowed down to two senior living homes, and finally choose NNRC for their location, open space, land area and courteous team.
Our food menus are determined by our F&B managers in consultation with the residents. And yes, we also make specialised Cardio-Diabetic food based on specific requests. Yes, apart from routine health checkup we have some special and expert medical team of nurses who take good care of our senior citizens well. They are available for 24hrs in a day and will attend all emergencies with direct consultation.
Rich water table in that area guarantees sustainable supply of water. Lot of open space around and mountains in the background also assures moderate climate. Setting apart space for Miyawaki forest was conveying a lot about the commitment Team Pavithram to creating lung space in the community. The goal of Independent Living for Seniors at NNRC is to provide a safe and comfortable retirement community in India.

Our temporary stay will enable us to decide our future plans like buying a villa or apartment in Nandanam for permanent stay. We comprehend the helplessness felt by the elders when they don’t have a family to say.
